The Story behind the books

“Before Saying “I Do”: The Essential Guide to a Successful Marriage”

I wrote the book “51 Things You Should Know Before Getting Engaged” based on my experiences working with couples over the years. I wanted to provide a simple, easy to read guidebook to people who were in serious relationships. The book is for those who want to know if their partners are good matches for a successful marriage. In addition, the book addresses how to improve communication styles and work through conflict successfully. After the success of this book, Turner decided to reissue it under a new title, “Before Saying I Do: The Essential Guide to a Successful Marriage” to reach an even larger audience of individuals who wanted help and were already engaged and moving towards a wedding.

"51 Things You Should Know Before Getting Engaged"

In the fall of 2008 I received a call from the CEO and owner of Turner Publishing Inc. He explained that he had heard of “The Batshaw Method” from a couple whom I had worked with and was intrigued. He asked me if I would consider writing a book for him on the important issues a couple needs to understand before getting engaged and I agreed.
